THE WILLIAM A. BRANDT, JR ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

William A. Brandt, Jr

In 2021, the Board and Staff of Culture for One inaugurated The William A. Brandt, Jr. Achievement Award. The award is given yearly to a Culture for One program participant who demonstrates outstanding accomplishments aligned with the mission of Culture for One.

The award is named for William A. ‘Bill’ Brandt, Jr., who was transformational to our organization. Bill was a highly respected leader and pioneer in the business world, a passionate patron of the arts, a devoted family man, and a fierce advocate for children.

Bill championed our mission to empower youth in NYC's foster care system through the power of the arts. Bill and his wife, Patrice Bugelas-Brandt, donated generously, gave their time and counsel, and provided our office space.

Youth are considered for the Award if they fulfill any of the following: successful completion an art study program or project, paired with dedication to the craft; recognition of the youth’s promise and dedication from teaching artists; or a notable harnessing of the arts to overcome challenges and trauma. Recipients of the award will range from elementary school age children to young adults.

The Award includes a certificate and a gift valued at approximately $1000. Gifts will be relevant to the youth’s accomplishments and useful for their ongoing study.
